Chicago is a beautiful city, and - contrary to popular belief and folklore - safe in most areas; however, gentrification and economic inequality, along with historically segregated neighborhoods and piss-poor police tactics have created an uptick in crime and violence in select communities.
we know that more can be done by sharing resources with the countless organizations and individuals dedicated to reducing gun violence, police brutality, and drug proliferation in our city, and have partnered with several leading and experienced voices in the struggle for peace and prosperity. (un)common good collective engages local political leaders and organizers, partnering in conversation around proposed legislation and police practices within various precincts, and facilitates 'sit-downs' with members of Chicago's rival gang factions designed to seek ways to reduce violence in our city's communities and neighborhoods.
